Rolando Anselmi is delighted to present 'Pearl, Eye, Worm', the first solo exhibition by the Polish artist Ewa Juszkiewicz in its space in Rome. Through the deconstruction and transformation of material culture images, Ewa Juszkiewicz challenges the cozy order in which we are used to accept our aesthetic heritage, especially the one related to the female figure, building up a private collection of images and breaking through the traditional visual conventions. In the collages, Ewa Juszkiewicz has used images taken from old books and albums, cutting out pictures and reassembling them as fragments from a vintage natural history catalogue. The collages seem to be Juszkiewicz’s creative process records, showing the path which goes from the use of known scenarios to the creation of unknown and unprecedented ones. Starting from historical artworks and emulating the pictorial style of the originals, in Ewa Juszkiewicz oil paintings the trial to the outward look is even more clear, replacing what is expressed in the canon and aesthetic clichés for what comes from the senses and intuition.
